To Residents of Balrothery November 2008

The Balrothery Community Council has been established over 2 years now. We have achieved much progress and many projects have begun and many more are in the pipeline. Our aims are to make real the views, hopes and wishes of the people of Balrothery village through good representation of their views and opinion. Let me introduce our 2008/9 committee:

So far we have introduced a village website www.balrothery.com which is a very useful source of local information and a great means for residents to monitor and interact with the Community Council. We have established a network of public representatives and county councillors. We hold regular meetings with our representatives to lobby and seek representation for our on the ground issues. We hold a biannual Deputation meeting with Fingal County Council at County Hall. Getting issues resolved, new projects begun and repairs and improvements carried out is some of the work we undertake. Some of the resent projects begun and budgeted for in the Fingal County Council Transportation and Works Programme 2008 are provision of pedestrian lights and traffic calming measures on the Inch Road to the Cricket and Rugby Clubs, a path to the tennis courts, pedestrian paths linking Balruddery Field/Woods, the playing fields and Community Centre and several road resurfacing works. Projects and issues we are currently committed to are seeking a new primary school building to address the crisis level lack of places at Balrothery Nation School. We are also seeking the reopening of the many laneways and pedestrian areas of the Village. We continue to seek upgrading of roads in and out of Balrothery, Traffic calming measures on our roads and in our estates and the upgrade of footpaths throughout the village. We continuously receive proposals from residents and organizations in the village with items to ad to our agenda and ask that you persist with this, all submissions can be submitted via the website or by post.

Whilst most estates, areas and organizations in Balrothery are represented on the Community Council we continue to seek representatives. Particularly from new estates and organizations.  From time to time we may ask for action from you be it petitioning, lobbying or demonstrating. We will need volunteers for letter distribution and clean ups. When the time comes we will need the people of Balrothery to demonstrate their strong community spirit and answer this call.

I wish to welcome all new residents to Balrothery, we are very pleased to welcome you to the Village.
