MargaretI am happy to report that we had a great turn out of adults and children who joined together in teams to tackle the list of tasks set out for them.  They were given gloves, hi viz vests and plastic bags and any tools required for the job in hand. After two hours the majority of the work was done which resulted in many plastic bags of rubbish picked, six trailer loads of all types of junk which was pulled out of ditches.  The Rubbish Bins got a good wash and paths were scraped and swept. The event was recorded with photos and on completion the adults were given Tea and fresh buns made by Sarah and the children had Fruit Shots with goodies supplied by Gerry in Spar. Meanwhile, Patrick with his team of helpers drove around the village and collected all the rubbish into one central area for collection by Mick and his Operations team from Fingal Co Co.

Many hands make light work and that certainly proved to be the case today.Trailer rubbish

Many thanks to all who participated it makes it all worthwhile when you see the willingness of people to give of their time and effort in making our village a better place to live in. Fingal Co CoThank you to the Operations crew in Fingal Co Co who are always so helpful in any task we ask for help with.

For those who for whatever reason could not be there today, this is only the start of our Tidy Towns season. You get another chance in May when we will have another day for planting, cutting, strimming etc.   Meanwhile there is no reason why you can’t pick up a piece of litter or pull a few weeds where needed as well as sweeping the pavement or any other task that would enhance your area. Youspring clean kids can always “Adopt a Patch” where you feel a little bit of tender loving care make all the difference to an area.

You just have to be willing to do it and the rewards are mighty.   It is even better if you do it in a small group it is a great way to get exercise fresh air and make new friends.
